Speaker
- Announces which team goes next into the warm-up ring and into the main ring
- “Next in the ring, we’ll see xxx with xxx, and into the warm-up ring, xx with xx”
- Always consults with the judges; the announcer never clears the ring without the judges’ permission
- Provides information about the schedule in coordination with the organizing team (breaks, judge changes, time shifts, changes)
- At trade shows: hosts the tournament proceedings
- Teams are announced and sent off neutrally
DJ
– Often acts as a dual role Speaker/DJ
– Conducts the soundcheck in coordination with the judges (in the ring or warm-up ring)
– Adjusts the volume according to the athlete’s wishes
– Starts the music after a clear signal from the starter and stops it in case of a possible interruption – always in consultation with the judges. Music is not stopped independently.
– Reports to the judges if the music is too long or too short
Timekeeper
– Stops the time for setting up the props: 90 sec in ALL classes, fun and official
This task can also be taken over by judges/ring stewards, etc., depending on the assignment by the organizer
Ring Helper
– manages all routines in the ring and warm-up
– stays in touch with the judges’ table and the speaker
– opens the ring as soon as it is cleared by the judges and the starting team is ready
– the ring can first be opened for prop setup/soundcheck – after consulting with the judges, then it is opened for the starting team
– the ring helper does not actively or physically prevent the dog from leaving the ring during the dance or after the ring is opened
– after the dance, the ring helper opens the door as soon as the team is on their way to the exit, without physically stopping or pushing the dog back if it runs back into the ring
– takes care of transporting the leash/collar/harness/jackpot to the ring exit
– removes props from the ring
– can hand out sponsor bags/ribbons/feedback forms to the starters after they begin
